Around the World on a Flying Windmill – Lithuania’s first animated feature film – finally has its first trailer, where viewers can see what a challenge in computer animation the creators of the picture, including the authors of the Gustav’s Encyclopedia television program, Fireheart: The Legend of Tadas Blinda producer Žilvinas Naujokas, and the OKTA computer graphics studio, have undertaken.
Around the World on a Flying Windmill – Lithuania’s first feature animated film
In this colorful and dynamic trailer, it is clear that Gustav – even if he does yawn for a second – will never be bored. A gnome’s tree house, an airplane flight, and trips on a cruise ship and even a spacecraft – such is the vast geography of his journey.
The movie’s main characters – Gustav and Eester Christmassen-Yulegren – are on a journey that is to become the expedition of the century, and this journey has an important goal – to find a lost relic of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Keeping the intrigue alive, the creators of Around the World on a Flying Windmill have yet to reveal why it is so important. According to them, this original story will be universal and will be appealing not only to Lithuanians, but to foreign audiences as well.
The new Lithuanian-produced animated film will surprise viewers with quality that has probably thus far been limited to animation created in Hollywood. The magnificent glaciers, ominous and enormous sea monsters, and uninhabited islands and jungle images that were so diligently created will prove that our countrymen have also mastered the latest in computer graphic technologies and are on par with foreign specialists.
During the courageous travelers’ journey, the public will see a number of serious and laugh-inducing obstacles. Gustav, an ingenious human encyclopedia, will solve the difficulties they come across resourcefully and with humor. The hero, beloved by entire generations, will not only leave viewers in a good mood, but will also throw out some interesting tidbits about geography and history.
The makers of Around the World on a Flying Windmill invited an entire crew of stars from the Lithuanian world of film, theater and music to act in the new movie. In the first trailer for the picture, we have a chance to see not only Audrius Rakauskas (Gustav), but Karina Krysko-Skambinė and actor Andrius Žebrauskas as well. Even more familiar actors and fun adventures are coming soon.
With its nearly 20-year television run, Gustav’s Encyclopedia has now turned into the stunning, positive and fun Around the World on a Flying Windmill, which will hit cinemas in Lithuania on October 17th this year.
